Donations in Support of Beaumont’s Parenting Program Help New Families

Meet Natalie Pyciak, one pound, four ounces. When Natalie was born, her parents, Jason and Niki, were unprepared for what was to come. An emergency C-section brought Natalie into the world four months early, before her lungs were fully formed.

“We had so many questions, says Jason. How do other parents adjust? How will we cope?”

In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Jason and Niki learned of Beaumont’s Parenting Program. They compiled their questions and Jason attended group sessions with other parents while Niki took care of herself and Natalie.

From volunteers and other parents, they learned about what to expect in the NICU, tips on how to “stay sane,” and received reassurance that things would get better. With serious respiratory problems, Natalie was in the NICU for five months until she could breathe on her own and maintain her own body temperature. And the Parenting Program was with her parents the whole time.

Beaumont’s Parenting Program was a beacon of hope for the Pyciaks and with your help, can continue to be there for many other new parents.

Jason was so grateful for the help he and his family received from the Parenting Program, he became a volunteer and now is happy to share with others that “There is hope! Things can get better and do get better.”

With your generosity, his message will be heard by many more new parents. Please show them they’re not alone.
